July - Katelyn stuff

In three more days, Katelyn will be 6 months old! sigh.

A few days ago, Danny asked if he could try to feed Katelyn since she seems so interested in watching us eat. So I made a bowl of rice cereal and she was very eager to eat it! She is definitely more interested in eating then Geoffrey was! SHe had some green beans, too. Yesterday, she had a few bites of avocado, and today she had a few bites of banana. Originally, I was going to hold off on solids but since she seems interested I think we'll do them more often then I had anticipated...

She still doesn't roll over very often. She desperately wants to sit up and she does those crunches to look around.  She pushes herself up high when she does tummy time and is starting to helicoptor and try to scoot around in a circle with her knees. She doesn'thave much control over it yet, though. She is very big with playing with her hands and she loves to grab at things - book pages, noses, etc. She loves playing with her feet, too, and she will try to grab things with her feet! Cute! She loves playing - in her exersaucer, in her gym, in her door bouncer, and in her bouncer seat.

She loves her mommy! She often won't let anyone else hold her but me. For awhile, she seemed to be getting better with this but the last few days it has seemed worse again. Danny and Daddy can hold her, too, but she wouldn't let Grandpa hold her at all yesterday! Sigh... I am happy it is summer, but I hope me being around all the time doesn't make things worse!

Sleep. Sigh. She has not gotten better about eating during the day. Even when I am home, she doesn't eat much in the morning or early afternoon, and she does her best eating at night. She does one goo stretch of sleep for about five hours, but the early morning is hard because then she wakes up like every two hours. I am playing around with weening her off one of those feedings but it seems to make her wake up more often. SO, sleep training is definitely on my radar - but with Hawaii coming up and then Florida, I am wondering if it is worth it right now! Currently she goes down around 9:00 (with an 8:30 feeding). I dream feed her at 11, and then she sleeps util about 4. Then she wakes up at 6 and then 8 and then 10 to start the day. I was trying to ween the 4 feeding, but I think instead I am going to start weening any feeding after 4. So she can have one full middle of the night feeding but no more snacking (I've been letting her eat 10 minutes instead of 20 at those subsequent wakings. I think I am going to do 5 for the next few nights and see...)

I think she is capable of sleeping all night - she's just definitely used to eating at night and I have to change that!

She has her 6 month visit on Thursday...
