Tonight, katelyn's pre-sleep speech was entitled, "Who Needs Toys When You Have Toes?" Her presentation even included on site demonstrations.

Night night
I think it is so funny how katelyn is so chatty when I'm getting her ready for bed. It's like she is saying, "I know you are putting on my pajamas but I really need you to hear my latest dissertation on spit bubbles right now!"

Summer is HERE!
I am so happy that summer is here! 2 months to spend with my family! I couldn't be happier!
Geoffrey: He is such a chatterbox! He loves to talk and talk and talk! He is doing the summer program with Miss Lisa again. Yesterday we went to Bucanner Bay for his first field trip and had so much fun! He is such the little fish! With his vest on he just cruises anywhere he wants to go! I think he will have a lot of fun in Hawaii swimming this summer!
He is still obsessed with trash trucks. Last night he sorted laundry. He put the "recycles" (light colored clothes) in the "recycle can" (white laundry basket) and the "trash" (dark color clothes) in the "trash can" (pink laundry basket.) Awesome.
When he doesn't want to do something, he says "I am tired. I think I am going to go back to sleep for a little bit." Stinker. Of course, he isn't going back to sleep! Just trying to get out of doing something he doesn't want to.
He likes building "houses" out of blocks, playing with his toy story dump, building train tracks... but a lot of his play centers around conveyer belts and dumping things.
Katelyn: Katelyn is doing so much better. She is really "maturing" out of the newborn stage. She is, in general, very happy. She tolerates others holding her for longer periods of time. She spends a lot of time occupying herself in her play may "gyms" and her exersaucer. She has started rolling over but this is very rare still. She has also gotten up on her hands and knees a few times to rock... She loves to talk! One of her trademarks, though, is that when she is laying on her back she does these crunches - lifting her head and shoulders off of the ground to try to look at what is going on. She REALLY wants to sit up and see the world!
Our goal for the next few weeks is to work on sleep training. I want her eating more during the day and less at night (she should certainly be able to do an 8 hour stretch now if she is eating enough during the day). I also would like her to be able to self soothe so that she sleeps better at night.

5 months
Katelyn is such a happy little girl with Mommy and Daddy! She has really started playing with her toys. She loves her exersaucer and can spend long periods batting her toys and pulling on them. She has found her feet, too, and is starting to play with them. She is becoming quite dexterous. She also loves being pulled into a standing position.
She is also "talking" a lot. Babbling and cooing and screeching. She loves to communicate with us!
I especially love when she just looks up at me, smiles, and sighs. I feel so loved! SHe is truly my baby doll - I love kissing those soft, round cheeks!
Sleep is going about the same - down at 8:30, up around 2:00 and then around 6:00, and then around 10:00 to start her day. We've mostly stopped on the solids for now. She's doing fine just nursing. Naps are OK at home, but if we are out she will stay awake all day! It is crazy! And for the most part be in a good mood!
I've had a busy week so I have been letting her sleep with me. However, she's getting spoiled - she dies well the first time she goes down but was not going back down at 5:30. I was trying to get her to hold on to her bunny rabbit while I nursed her. I put it under her arm for her to hold - and she reached right over it and gripped my shirt - like, nice try Mama, but I want you, not some bunny rabbit!
The biggest challenge we have is when we leave her with other people. She loves Mommy and Daddy very much! In the past three weeks we've had two shows to go to - Grandpa Bob and Grandma DeeDee watched her once and Grandpa Gary and Nonna watched her the other time, and she pretty much screamed the entire time we were gone. Geoffrey used to be fussy when we left him, but Katelyn gets really upset. I know that is hard for the people watching her - because they love her so much!
One more thing - Katelyn went to her first musical - we went to see Drew perform in Les Miserables - she did SO WELL sitting with me throughout the performance!
I love my baby girl so much it is insane!
