Last week we transitioned Geoffrey to a Big Boy Bed (a twin mattress on the floor) and he has made the transition quite well. I think he enjoys his new found freedom. I noticed lately, at nap time, that in addition to picking out the books he wanted me to read to him, he was also picking out a separate stack of books and putting them on his bed. I tried reading him one of these books and he got quite upset, saying "Geoffrey do it".
I put him down for his nap yesterday and left the door open a crack so I could see what he was doing. After I left, he immediately got up, sat on the corner of his bed and proceeded to "read" the books out loud that he left on the corner of his bed. The books he chooses are his favorites (Farmer Grover, The Potty Train, The Schoolhouse, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Marvin K Mooney, etc) and he knows them quite well. He has them about 95% memorized, so he is not actually reading the words, but he definitely has a good memory.
After he finished reading the books, he tucked himself in to bed and went down for his nap. What a big boy!
