Geoffrey - 2 years 5 months

Geoffrey is just amazing! His vocabulary amazes me. He speaks in sentences and repeats everything we say.

"Can I have some glass of milk?"

"Can we do it again?"

"Watch this Boys!"

"Will you help me make a choo choo track?"

He sings now, too. He will sing along with me or Grant when we sing "Ariel," and "Feed the Birds" and with the TV during shows like "Jake and the Neverland Pirates," "Chuggington" and "Mickey Mouse Club House," which are his current favorite shows. He also LOVES the Toy Story movies, and Cars.

He can identify at least six colors easily, can say his ABC's and count forward and backwards. It is so fun to be able to talk to him and listen to his thoughts!

He is stubborn, as I guess many two year olds are - he likes to do things by himself, and won't do anything unless he wants to!

He loves to swim, and with his life vest on, he can swim all over and jump in all by himself. Yesterday, he started going to the edge of the pool, turning around backwards, and, keeping his body stiff, falling backwards into the pool. Quite the daredevil!

Potty Training is on the back burner for now - although daddy and I are definitely ready! - because we are leaving for Australia in a few days. We decided we didn't want to potty train, and go back to diapers for the trip (We didn't think we'd have enough time to really be successful to where we wouldn't need diapers, especially with all the driving we are doing!). Once he's out of diapers we don't want him thinking that going back to diapers is an option.

16 weeks

I had a Doctor's appointment earlier this week! Everything is looking good - measurements are fine and your heartbeat is strong! I am feeling better and better each day. I am still somewhat smell sensitive, and have indigestion, but it doesn't seem as severe most of the time! I can get by on less sleep, too, which is good because your brother is having a hard time preadjusting to Australia time! A couple of annoying pregnancy symptoms - another yeast infection and a stuffy nose - but its ok! 16 weeks - that means we have about 5 months to go! I wonder, are you going to arrive late, like your brother? Daddy and I are also working hard trying to figure out the perfect name for you! It is a daunting task, let me tell you!

How your baby's growing:

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

15 weeks

How I am feeling: Better, but not much. Indigestion / heartburn is still a problem. I am trying to eat smaller meals and healthy snacks, but it isn't always easy.

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam.

2nd trimester!

2nd trimester! Woohoo! Still not feeling great. I seem to have worse indigestion then ever with this one (although the nausea is pretty much done). Any and every food seems to cause it. I've been eating a lot of salads - but it doesn't seem to matter what I eat.   I also have been getting frequent headaches.    Fun! Got my results back for the initial screening and everything came back negative, so that is good!

Welcome to the second trimester! This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him -- a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches -- about the size of a lemon -- and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

How I am feeling

Well, the nausea seems to have officially given way to indigestion/heartburn, my old nemesis from geoffreys pregnancy. Well huzzah and pooey. A break between the two would have been nice, but what can you do? On another note, my boobs are huge.
