Geoffrey's first cold

So Geoffrey got his first cold last week. He started with a runny nose, and being more tired then usual. Then last Monday, Oct. 5th, he got a fever. The highest it got was 101.5 and it lasted for two days. Now he is fine again - except for that snotty nose!!! Overall, though, he seemed in a really good mood - he handled it very well! When he felt really bad, be would want to be held, of course, and be a little needier then usual, but in general, his mood didn't change a whole lot. What a happy boy!

So behind 7 1/2 monts

I am so behind on Geoff's blog! He is 7 1/2 months now. He is still crawling around everywhere, and loves to pull himself up to standing anywhere and everywhere. He loves to explore. He is not quite cruising yet.

His sleep is doing well, overall. He is sleeping most nights from about midnight to about 11 AM on average. However, he seems to wake up once or twice a night and cry for about 30 minutes or so. He still has trouble calming himself back to sleep. We think this is related to his changing positions at night. He will roll into a sit up position and sort of get "stuck," because he is too tired to really remember how to lay back down. Sometimes, if we catch it quickly, he'll go right back to sleep, but many nights it is enough to wake him enough that he has trouble settling back into sleep.

His napping is sort of better. It is now really obvious when it is time for him to nap. In fact, on weekdays, he'll be playing happily and then when he's ready for a nap, he climbs up onto Grant's lap to tell him he is ready for his nap. Grant will read to him, sing to him, and then put him in his crib and he'll fall right asleep. Some naps aren't quite as easy, but he usually goes to sleep within 15 minutes now. His naps are still super short - 45 minutes is average - although the other day he took a 3 hour nap - VERY unusual for him! He usually naps about 3 hours after he last woke up - and still takes that third nap many days. Sometimes he sneaks in a cap nap while I am feeding him and that sort of recharges him for the evening.

He is still not very interested in solids. We try feeding him 2 or 3 times a day. He usually has a bite or two and then he is over it. He has had bananas, pears, apples, oranges, broccolli, squash, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, mangoes, avocado... but he doesn't show interest in anything, really. We put a scoop of cereal in each of his bottles so he gets some iron that way. We'll keep trying!

Geoff had his last Dr.s appointment on Sep. 17th. He had 3 shots this time, Including a flu shot.  He weighed 18 pounds, one ounce (50th percentile), and was 28 1/4 inches long (90th percentile).
